The BCN City Ballet Project provides an opportunity for young dancers to work around the concept of a show

It is the second time that the International Dance Competition City of Barcelona provides some of the participants special prize BCN City Ballet Project. “In the event there are grants and stays in big companies but we thought it was time to do something in the city, so this project was born,” said Georgina Rigola, director of the project and the event.
The dancers and artists chosen by the jury come to Barcelona where they work for 3 months in the conception of a show from the beginning to the estrena.Un process that helps them prepare for the professional world through the cultural exchange with students from around the world and through master classes and international choreographers.
This year, part six dancers between 16 and 21 years old from Argentina, Cuba and Italy. “The contest, with this scholarship, opens the door of a very good way to move forward not only in the sense of dance, but learn things about the profession, such as resistance or trials,” said Joaquina Butter participant BCN City Ballet Project.
The show, which uses the language of contemporary dance, classical and Spanish premiere during the Feast of Mercé and then undertake a tour of theaters in Catalonia, New York, Italy and Ireland.
