The Hotel Association of the city creates a new stamp to recognize the historical and heritage value

The Barcelona Hotel Association presented on Thursday the new specialization “Monument”, which recognizes hotels that provide added value to the heritage of the city.
In presenting this new designation, the president of the Hotel Association of Barcelona, Jordi Clos, explained that this initiative aims to provide a differentiator to hotels that give value to their heritage and to provide a loyalty tool for visitors.
Currently there are 12 hotels that have this recognition: 1898, Arai, Bagués, Casa Fuster, Claris, Spain, Granados 83, Grand Central Hotel, Le Meridien Barcelona, Mercer Hotel and Neri Monument.
The 28 classified as unique, attachable
Clos said that “Memorial” starts with a reduced proposal to study what are the advantages of incorporating this title in hotels, but said that the doors are open for the 28 hotels classified as Barcelona’s landmark buildings. He also pointed out that in the coming months will be several hotels around Catalunya receiving this certificate, which will become reference points for visitors to the region.
In this sense, Clos said that “Memorial” has been very well received by professionals and that there are hotels that called for recognition.
Ester Bombeli, director of the Hotel Neri, where the presentation was held, said that this specialization is not only a recognition to hotels who receive it, but for the entire city. In addition, he explained that this is an ongoing responsibility to the hotel, you must follow the joint denomination to maintain its high value.
Clos, who has defined ‘Monument’ as a “very different and separate” line, has recognized that there is a similar experience that catalogs luxury hotels, but has indicated that it made through companies for profit. “In our case there is no intention of doing business, it’s just a collection of hotels with added value in Catalonia”
