A Sitges Film Festival “more feminine than ever” will present from October 7th to 16th more than 170 films in different sections of the contest that offered the vision of “a great date,” said Monday the director Angel Sala.
Among the 170 films there are established names genre film as Adam Wingard, Rob Zombie, Paul Schrader, Takashi Miike, Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Ti West, Bill Plympton, Isaki Lacuesta, Miguel Angel Vivas, Jonás Cuarón, Na Hong-jin, Julia Ducournau , Keishi Otomo, Carles Torrens, Mateo Gil, Mike Flanagan or Anurag Kashyap.
In programming films featuring familiar faces from the big screen as Gael García Bernal, Nicolas Cage, Glenn Close, Kate Bosworth, Keanu Reeves, Malcolm McDowell, Anne Hathaway, Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine, Antonio de la Torre, María Valverde will be shown Feng Xiaogang, Choi Min-sik, Doona Bae, Brontis Jodorowsky or Kristen Stewart.
Angel Sala said that “as happened in the last edition of the festival of San Sebastian in Sitges will be movies with violence, as a consubstantial gender element, and specifically to horror movies, which this year has a special role” .

The 49th edition of the festival showcases a spectacular guest list headed by actors Christopher Walken and Max von Sydow, who will receive the Grand Honorary Award each, besides the director Paul Schrader and actors Walter Koenig, Barbara Crampton, Bruce Campbell and Dolph Lundgren which will be recognized with the award of Time Machine.
Spanish actors Mario Casas Terele Pávez and receive in Sitges, respectively, the Nosferatu Award and the Bacardí Sitges indomitable Spirit Award.
A team of producers and Franck Ribiere Mick Garris, directors Brian Yuzna and Axelle Carolyn and programmer Geoffrey Gilmore jury selected palmares of Great Official section among the 30 films competing.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Star Trek, Sitges pay tribute to the saga, which is the protagonist of the poster and the universe ‘Trekkie’ will be as visible to the character of Chekov, played by Walter Koenig figure.
