Winery Codorníu has been awarded by the Wine Tourism Awards
The prestigious British magazine Drinks International has just celebrated its annual awards – the WineTourism Awards -, and one of them has returned to fall in the province of Barcelona. Specifically in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, where the Codorníu winery has had its cavas for more than 500 years.
The visitor center of the Catalan company has been named as the best in the world – ‘Best Visitor Center’ – for its “strategic commitment to quality wine tourism and the premiumization of its visits,” explained Drinks International.
The jury of this publication dedicated to the world of wine and spirits since 1972, has highlighted the Catalan company’s strong commitment to wine tourism and its wide and heterogeneous offer based on quality and innovation, as well as recognizing its work of offering to the visitor authentic experiences: from tasting courses and pairings to bike rides and picnics among vineyards.
It is the third consecutive year that the Catalan winery has been recognized for these awards, although in past editions the magazine has awarded prestigious visitor centers, such as Vius Manent (Chile), Jacob’s Creek (Australia) and Bodegas Tío Pepe Jerez de la Frontera).
Codorníu was one of the first wineries to open its wineries to the public with the aim of transmitting its values to its visitors, more than 80,000 in 2016. We have found documents and announcements of 1924 in which Codorníu already announced their visiting hours.
