Barcelona continues as the ‘favorite’ luxury consumers, with 32% of sales, reported today at a press conference the president of the Spanish Association of Luxury, Cristina Martin.
The luxury sector in Spain reached in 2015 a turnover of 6,000 million euros, up 15% compared to 2014.
Bilbao has welcomed this morning in the presentation Bilbaína Society Association in a ceremony which was attended by the president of honor, Princess Béatrice d’Orléans, and in which also he participated the designer and member of the institution Teresa Busto .
The breakdown among the cities with the largest presence in this sector has not changed much over the previous year.
So Barcelona continues as ‘favorite’ city of the most affluent consumers, with 32% percent of sales, about 1,920 million if the calculation of the total, followed by Marbella, which accounts for 27% percent of the business is done . Madrid (16%), Ibiza (8.5%), Mallorca (6%), Bilbao (2.8%) and San Sebastian (1.5%) are the following preferred areas to buy.
Spain ranks fifth in the luxury market within the European Union, behind France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
“While most sectors have experienced declines in their levels of production and sales in the luxury sector remain and increase thanks to exports and tourists who visit us,”.
Products ‘gourmet’ and beauty offer the greatest sales volume in Spain, with 55% of the total business, and its turnover has increased by 4.8% over the previous year, stressed Martin.
Also, fashion and accessories, such as jewelry and leather goods, are two sectors that “increasingly become more weight in the luxury ‘made in Spain’ sector,” he stated.
With this call, which brought together eighteen of the sixty companies that make up the entity created in 2010, it has sought to publicize the association and the latest developments in the luxury sector.
The designer has opined that luxury is “excellence, to do the best, with love and effort, either bread or a bag”.
