This weekend starts the 47th edition of the Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival of Barcelona, dozens of concerts scheduled until next December. It will be on September 26 at the Auditorium of the Forum with Diana Krall and sensuality of a voice falling almost three decades leading the public and critics. Wallflower World Tour, the name given its upcoming world tour, will come loaded with pop classics like California Dreamin’ The Mamas and the Papas, Desperado Eagles or Bob Dylan Wallflower, among many others. His admiration for Elton John was also recorded in this new job and on tour, where not lack Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, an issue that is part of Diana’s life since he was a teenager, heard first album Blue Moves.
Auditori gain weight
Barcelona Auditorium this year became one of the main venues of the festival. By Pau Casals room will big names such as Chick Corea (October 22), Maria Schneider Orchestra, which will present his latest album, The Thompson extraordinary Fields’s (November 12) and Gonzalo Rubalcaba Quartet Volcano (November 24 ). Camera rooms Auditori also receive Danish artists like Trio Italian pianist Stefano Bollani (November 2), the Quartet Mboko the very young Cuban pianist David Virelles (November 10) -a documented by ECM unusual meeting between Santeria and avant-garde jazz, the duo without borders formed by the artistic couple in real life and Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn (November 11), guitarist Marc Ribot and Young Philadelphians (November 17), a single one of the most influential musicians of contemporary jazz, also guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel (November 18), and saxophonist Mark Turner with the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra (November 28), among others.
Also highlighted in the programming of this year’s concerts Tori Sparks (October 23), De la Purissima (October 24), Concha Buika (November 7), Txarango with Barcelona Big Latin Band and Chucho Valdes (November 21 ), Neneh Cherry (November 25), Josemi Carmona-Javier Colina (November 27), Stacey Kent (November 28) and Noa (December 9).
