The 52th edition Festival for Children comes loaded with fun for children of the family. The Montjuïc Fira de Barcelona will find more than 100 activities of all kinds. As a novelty, this year the festival expands the range of more traditional activities such as theater, puppets and magic, and release a large circus stilt walkers, trapeze artists and strongmen. In addition, they promote activities related to new technologies, such as robotics workshops, promoted concepts such as ecology, recycling and the environment. Healthy habits are also very present, as well as sports activities. In this edition, even you can make a kayak tour in a pool!

Another great new feature of the festival is the Peppa Pig theme park in which recreates the world of the characters of the famous cartoon series. “One day with Peppa the festival” can be seen from 27 to 30 December and 2 January 4.

Trends and action for children

The XD Young Fest is an ideal space for boys and girls between 10 and 14 years. In this space there is entertainment to sell and experiences related to multimedia technology, urban dances, 3D, sports and graffiti, among many others. From young people can develop apps and get into the world of robotics to perform concerts and electronic music sessions.

Environment and cinema come together in FICMA Barcelona

From 5th to 12th November, the International Festival of Environmental Film will screen 120 films in different areas of the city, also in schools

With the slogan “Change is underway,” the International Festival of Environmental Film makes Barcelona the world capital of environmental awareness with the projection from 5 to 12 November, 120 films in different areas: the CaixaForum, the CosmoCaixa Cinemas Girona, several universities (University of Barcelona and Pompeu Fabra University Blanquerna) and schools across Catalonia.

The festival, the oldest of its kind in the world, is celebrating the 22nd edition doubles and programming. “We are a film festival that moves and generates awareness, and always committed for social change and promoting environmental education from broadcasting,” said Claudio Lauria, founder and president of FICMA.

FICMA decided to start with two films that combine music, film and environment, with 2 characters: Dr. Jane Goodall awarded the Gold Sun Special Festival 2015, starring the short Trio Jane’s Music of Life in Why is that nature is also music, and the Orchestra of Recycled Instruments Cateura, a band formed by young Paraguayans marginalized areas from which their country has become famous throughout the world to play with instruments recycled materials. The orchestra carries the European premiere of the film harmonic Landfill.

The 2015 edition of the CaixaForum FICMA will close on November 12 with the screening of Last of the Elephant Men, a documentary about the relationship of an indigenous tribe with elephants and how to deal with a desperate fight for survival.

The official, the works competing for the Golden Sun Festival consists of 40 films, documentaries and animated films and fiction, selected from over 1,300 productions 100 countries. These figures have exceeded all records of participation in the history of the Festival. Apart from these films, over 80 films have been chosen also to be part of this ambitious program, divided into two sections: Visions of the World and Small FICMA.

Projections in the classroom

This edition FICMA has created a new section. Each named a Hall Cinema, the festival offers teachers of primary and secondary schools in Catalonia the possibility of a documentary project centers free catalog of works, divided according to age groups and themes, such as climate change, waste, renewable energy, sustainability and water shortages. The aim of this activity is that the environmental documentary genre reaches schools in the form of educational materials and encourage, thereby ecological awareness among young people.

How will humans in a hundred years?

The CCCB of Barcelona expo + HUMAN ‘, an exhibition that explores the boundaries of what it means to be a human being and what is ethically acceptable

Cyborgs, and clones superhuman. Evolution or Extinction? What it means to be human today? How will humans in a hundred years? Around these questions touring exhibition “HUMAN +” can be seen at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona until 10th April.

“Human +” explores the limits of what it means to be a human being: the limits of the body, the limits of the species, the limits of what is socially and ethically acceptable. We have to improve ourselves, or we try to modify our descendants? We approached a singularity of a man-machine hybrid or lose authority because of the ever-increasing dependence with respect to the technological extensions of the body? It is the extension of human longevity magnificent aspiration or a terrible threat to the planet?

This exhibition continues the project “Human +”, presented at the Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin in 2011. The artist Cathrine Kramer is the executive curator has had the collaboration of researchers Ricard Solé.

With works by fifty artists and pioneering research proposals, “Human +” explores the possible paths for the future of our species. From assisted reproduction techniques and emerging synthetic biology experiments to the ability to perpetuate ourselves through the digital world, our lives are conditioned and defined a revolutionary convergence of new scientific and technological fields.

To create the framework for exploration have been devised four general topics: increased skills, find themselves with others, designing the environment and life on the frontier. Each theme is represented through works of art, historical artifacts, videos, scientific research and commercial products.
