The British chain easyHotel in L’Hospitalet will open its first hotel in Spain

The British chain easyHotel will built in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat its first hotel in Spain, a facility with 200 rooms will open in 2018 and will involve an investment of 15 million euros.

The hotel will be located on the Avenue of the Granvia, it will also be the first chain to have their property outside the UK, but has other facilities or under a franchise operator in different European countries, as reported by the City Council in a statement.

The Mayor, Núria Marín, said that this new hotel “L’Hospitalet reaffirms as one of the leading business tourism and economic dynamism in Catalonia”. The company has chosen to settle around the Plaza de Europa of L’Hospitalet in assessing the proximity to the airport, Fira de Barcelona and the center of Barcelona, as well as connections to public transport and services on the environment.

The hotel easyHotel the 13 hotels that currently has the second largest city of Catalonia and offering a total of 3,600 seats will be added.

The candidacy to enter the Creative Cities Network has achieved international endorsement for editorial capital, the footprint of great writers and Sant Jordi

Barcelona literary city by Unesco

Literary Barcelona City has been declared by UNESCO to be selected its bid to become a member of the Creative Cities Network as a City of Literature, according to Europa Press sources of the City of Barcelona.

The nomination was made official last July, and the project was developed with the complicity of the Promotion Council of the bid, comprising more than 50 organizations and institutions linked to literature in the city. La Vanguardia called for the submission of this application, for editorial relevance of Barcelona and the impact they have had in it great writers like Cervantes or García Márquez.

This project showed the strength and solidity of the publishing capital of the city, the large number of projects around books and reading and will project them internationally. The nomination was supported by the main associations of authors, editors, translators, librarians and Catalan illustrators, along with the National Commission for Unesco and the major cities that currently make up the network, created in 2004.

International Meeting

Among the highlights of this project it is that Barcelona an international meeting place of authors and writers with the other cities of the network, as well as international conferences and meetings on the future of the publishing industry to claim the capital of Barcelona.

It also seeks to promote innovation in projects promoting reading, particularly among young and new formats to bring literature to wider audiences, and promote the exchange of best practices among cities to expand the literary experience in urban spaces, as well as consolidate Barcelona as the global benchmark city in celebration of April 23 as World Book Day Unesco.

Burgos, also selected

The city of Burgos has also been nominated by UNESCO, in this case in the Food category. The two municipalities become part of the selection of 47 cities in 33 countries-including three Spanish: Granada in the literary category, Seville and Bilbao in music in design- who commit to “collaborate and develop partnerships to promote creativity and cultural industries, share best practices, strengthen participation in cultural life and integrate culture in their plans for economic and social development.”

“The Creative Cities Network is a huge potential to emphasize the value of culture as an accelerator of sustainable development,” he said in a statement the Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova. The sustainable development program for 2030, adopted by the international community in September 2015, highlights the importance of culture and creativity as key drivers of sustainable urban development and in 2015 the tenth anniversary of the Convention on the Protection and celebrates promoting diversity of cultural expressions. The next annual meeting of the Creative Cities Network will be held in September 2016 in Ostersund (Sweden).
