The winning application Virtual Energy Advisor represents Barcelona in the final of the competition App Smart City Hack
The application Virtual Energy Advisor, launched by the Catalan company Enerbyte and commitment to improve energy efficiency, has only received prizes. With Barcelona having won the competition App Hack Smart City will represent the city at the grand final, under the Smart City Expo World Congress, to be held on 17 and 18 November. He has been nominated for the Mobile Premier Awards 2016, which are given each year at the Mobile World Congress.
Translating consumer tips
One of the distinguishing features of the application Virtual Energy Advisor is providing not only energy consumption data to the user, but it translates into useful information to achieve savings in the bill. “Like a GPS, you drive towards the goal of energy savings through customized messages and alerts that are sent to the platform,” explains Pep Salas, co-founder of Enerbyte. For example, the app allows the user to know the cheapest time to put the washing machine or the contracted power is the best for your home.
Motivate users through games
Once the user becomes aware of what it consumes, should motivate him to keep changing habits: “It is proven that behavioral change can achieve 10% energy savings,” explains Stefano Zelco, and marketing representative Product of Enerbyte. In this sense, the platform offers games to compete with yourself, but also with the community and see, so who is the neighbor that saves more.
How can you be part of the platform?
The locals who want to be part of this virtual platform can be registered on this site of City Hall. It is expected that by the end of 2015 the project gets to have more than 400 users.
