
Fira de Santa Llúcia-2018
La Fira de Santa Llúcia is much more than a fair or a point of sale for purely Christmas items, for many people in Barcelona it is the beginning of the Christmas holidays. And so it has been happening since time immemorial, there are those who already have 232 editions, since 1786. The fact is that this appointment has already become a tradition to celebrate these days: the purchase of ornaments, figures for the Nativity scene, tiós , Christmas trees, zambombas or ornaments in general.
But it is not only Barcelona’s neighbors who enjoy this particular market, but thousands of tourists who come to the vicinity of the Cathedral to get into the Catalan Christmas tradition, where they discover two singular characters: the tió and, the star of In recent years, the caganer. The latter a figure “is a real success among the outsiders who buy it as if it were a souvenir”, recognizes one of the merchants who sells figures for the nativity scene. And it is that this charming character of the Catalan crib has conquered millions of people around the world interpreting all kinds of public personalities, the political, sports and social world.
The 285 stands that form this year the Fira de Santa Llúcia will remain open until next December 23. The working days from 11 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. and holidays and vigils from 10 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.
