The Barcelona Boat Show 2017 will have new applications for greater connectivity and more environmentally friendly engines, among the most outstanding innovations.

Between 11 and 15 October, Port Vell will host more than 120 new products (16% more than last year), more than 80 new boats and some 40 in engines and electronics to exhibit the latest trends in the nautical sector, explained on Wednesday Fira de Barcelona in a statement.

According to the organization, this year highlights the devices in high definition and real time that simplify the location of fish banks and a great precision in the recognition of the seabed, in addition to the mobile applications that allow to control the movement of the anchor.

The 16th edition of the Boat Show demonstrates its leadership and this year it doubles the number of boats on display that are nominated for the main European awards of the sector, the European Boat of the Year 2018, awarded by the European specialized press.

The event, organized by Fira de Barcelona with the collaboration of the National Association of Nautical Companies (Anen), has experienced an increase of 11% in net exhibition space compared to the previous edition, 23,000 square meters in the docks of Spain, the Moll de la Fusta and Port Vell, and 7% in participating companies with a total of 275 exhibitors.

The event has also registered an increase of 11% in its floating offer compared to 2016 and exceeds this year the 180 boats over 8 meters in length exposed, highlighting the fleet of 21 catamarans, one of the most important that is exhibited in Europe .

The 55th edition of the Barcelona Boat Show will bring together the largest offer of sports and recreational boating in Spain sector. The event, which will take place from 12 to 16 October in the Port Vell, will attract major companies such as Beneteau, CNB-Lagoon, Conade, Fountaine Pajot, Jeanneau, Marina Estrella Marina Marbella, Metropol Marine, Yamaha or Zodiac, among others.

“The event will demonstrate its full potential as more main trading platform and meeting of sports and recreational boating sector in Spain,” he stressed the president of the hall, Luis Conde. This year, under the motto ‘Live the sea’, the show wants to establish itself as a space for fun and new experiences, both among fans in general and among those who are new in this world. For the show’s director, Jordi Freixas, “one of the main objectives is to spread the culture of the sea and show that there are multiple ways to enjoy it.”

The Boat Show will occupy the docks of Spain and Fusta of the Port Vell ; spaces that will host an extensive program of activities and experiences. Visitors will enjoy again both the floating sample, with boats from 8 meters, and the exhibition ground, presenting products and nautical services.

Meeting point for startups and investors

In this edition, entrepreneurs related to nautical sector gain in prominence with the organization of a day in which representatives of innovative companies emerging technology-based profile or present their projects to potential investors and firms in the sector. Another of the highlights is the round table dedicated to nautical sports, participate in key players involved in the sailing competition.

The event also bet on gastronomy. A catamaran will host the Show Boat Gastronomic where gourmets can make tastings of premium products, in addition to attending lectures on culinary trends.

Registrations up

The Spanish marine industry hopes that the LIV International Boat Show of Barcelona confirmed the “turnaround” experienced by the sector in 2014, after several years of crisis, with good attendance data.

This edition, to be held from Wednesday 14th to Sunday October 18th at Pier of Spain and the whip of the Port Vell, will feature 260 exhibitors -a 4% more than in 2014, 130 new products and a total of 670 boats with an area of ​​54,000 square meters more-2000, explained on Monday at a press conference the president of the show, Luis Conde.

Sanlorenzo explained that the sector has undergone a period of stagnation, but registrations are still 65% below those of 2006. For lengths, boats are the fastest growing between 12 and 16 meters passing of 85-104 registrations (22%), although the most numerous are still the less than eight meters which increased by 10% to a total 3,725.

By provinces, the Balearic Islands lead the standings with 677 vessels (16.32% increase), followed by Barcelona 465 (10.98% more), and Madrid that gets third place (20.8%) at the expense of Cadiz with 302.
More than a hundred new features

Of the total of 130 innovations, new models are 80 boats and 50 engines electronic accessories and art.
