The current head of Minecraft visit Congress
Ron Gilbert, creator of the acclaimed adventure game The Secret of Monkey Island will be one of the guest stars in the next edition of the Gamelab in Barcelona.
The congress organization has unveiled this morning Gilbert’s participation in this year’s edition, which will take place between 29 June and 1 July at the Hotel Hesperia Tower L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Indeed, Gilbert has been in the news this week, after I wrote a tweet in which he asked to Disney the ability to recover the rights of their game Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion. A message on Twitter that caused a sensation in the social network and that at the time of writing this news has been retweeted nearly four thousand times.
The news also coincides with the recent announcement of Disney to leave the game development, a decision that the entertainment giant alludes to the high cost of these productions.
Surely this will be one of the topics that speak Gilbert during his presentation at Gamelab a talk in which accomplishments that the US has achieved throughout his career as a game designer in the mythical company LucasArts also review, as the creation of system SCUMM (Script creation Utility for Maniac Mansion), the interface that popularized the genre of adventure games.
