Ferrari Land launches five children’s attractions and “energize” PortAventura World

The leisure complex PortAventura World expects to exceed five million visitors this year thanks to the “leverage of dynamism” that has led to the theme park Ferrari Land, which on Tuesday has premiered five attractions for children and from March 23 to 30 April has grown by 60% year-on-year in visits and 27% in hotel occupancy.

This has been explained by the general director of PortAventura World, Fernando Aldecoa, in an informative breakfast held in the park, in which he has commented the perspectives for this season and next year, and has assured that the independence process has not caused any impact on the number of visitors.

“Ferrari Land has had an evolution and impact throughout the spring, is a lever of dynamism that makes PortAventura position as a unique destination in Europe,” said Aldecoa, and has attributed the good results of this start of the season to the bet on Ferrari Land, which has had an investment of five million euros for new attractions.

With the opening of this Tuesday, the park dedicated to the Italian team already has a third of its offer aimed at children, and strengthens its commitment to the family audience, which accounts for 80% of customers.

The new attractions are Junior Red Force, a children’s version of the Red Force attraction; Kids Tower, a nine meter free fall tower; Champions Race, which simulates the driving of a Ferrari, and Crazy Pistons, an attraction that simulates the movement of the pistons of an engine.

A POSITIVE YEAR

Aldecoa has made a good assessment of the beginning of this 2018 and has ensured that PortAventura has lived the best Easter Week located in the month of March in the history of the park.

A trend that adds to the good results experienced since October last year, when the leisure complex recorded the best Halloween and Christmas campaigns, and that has resulted in a 9% increase in Spanish visitors.

The general director has assured that these figures show that the independence process has not had any impact: “PortAventura World is an international destination that is not affected by the tensions between Catalonia and Spain.”

Aldecoa has announced that this year will commemorate the 20th anniversary of ‘Woody’, the mascot of the park, and the characters of Tadeo Jones will arrive, while the shows of ‘Cirque du Soleil’ will not be scheduled, although they maintain the agreement.

NOVELTIES IN 2019

The leisure complex plans to invest 25 million in the construction of a theme hotel in 2019 aimed at a family audience that will be located in the area ‘Far West’ and will be added to the five hotels that has the spring.

It is also planned to build a new attraction in the theme park of Sésamo Aventura that will consist of the first ‘dark ride’ of the leisure complex and will cost about 15 million euros.

Both facilities will have a total investment of 40 million and are aimed at PortAventura World “continue to grow to enrich the product of the theme parks with new attractions,” and thus become the best tourism spring in southern Europe.

PortAventura World has announced the date of public opening of the new Ferrari Land theme park dedicated to the prestigious Italian car Prancing Horse. It will be on April 7, 2017, meeting the schedule and coinciding with the start of the new season in PortAventura.

Ferrari Land will occupy 60,000 square meters and will have several attractions “with a high component of adrenaline,” especially the vertical accelerator with 112 meters, and can be considered the highest roller coaster in Europe. The park is designed for families and fans of the Ferrari brand of all ages.

Giovanni Cavalli, general manager of the commercial area of PortAventura World, said that with the launch of Ferrari Land, PortAventura World will become “holiday destination worldwide reference” for its offer of three theme parks, one aquatic, in a unique resort.

The star attraction of the park Ferrari Land is the vertical accelerator, which, with a capacity of 1,200 passengers per hour, will accelerate the car from 0 to 180 km / h in just five seconds and lift them up to 112 meters high by one of the arms of the tower. Then he will plummet down the other side, with an interval of 30 seconds. The goal is to simulate the experience of a Formula 1 driver.

The cowards will see attraction from an adjacent step that emulates holding a Grand Prix high-speed vehicles in a circuit.

Ferrari Land will involve an investment of about 100 million euros. It will include a reproduction of iconic buildings in Maranello, the city that hosts the headquarters of the Italian team. There will also be architectural references of other great emblematic monuments such as the Roman Colosseum.

In the central part of the new theme park Ferrari Experience, a space which have not yet transcended many details are located. With an investment of nearly one hundred million euros, Ferrari Land, the new theme park PortAventura opens doors in 2017. It will have an area of ​​60,000 square meters and the first virtual images show in more detail how they will be the main attractions, such as the vertical accelerator 112 meters high, will become the tallest roller coaster in Europe, surpassing Shambhala (76 meters). Coinciding with the rebranding, PortAventura World Parks Resort today launched its new multi-device web page that has a special section dedicated to Ferrari Land, with unpublished content, showing for the first time how will be the future theme park, the first of Ferrari in Europe. In addition to the accelerator (the star attraction), the park will also feature two towers rebound over 55 meters with two-way launch a family racing circuit of 570 meters eight simulators, six for adults and two for children .

With a theming that revolves around the characteristic red color of the brand, the park will also feature recreation of iconic Italian monuments like the Colosseum, the Scala or the Campanile of San Marcos.
