The city awaits the arrival of some 200,000 people to enjoy the festival ‘Girona Temps de Flors’
Spring arrives in Catalunya with the exhibition “Girona Temps de Flors”. On Saturday began the 61st edition of this popular festival, with a total of 179 floral projects, which can be visited in the city for nine days, from 7 to 15 May.
This edition is expected to arrive in Girona near some 200,000 people to see the exhibition, a figure that will double the number of inhabitants city usually has. The event will include 134 space where different projects that have been prepared will be presented with a visitation schedule that will go from 10.00 to 22.00
“Temps de Flors” will have a budget of 400,000 euros and the City Council have highlighted the significant economic impact for the city involved, and especially for trade
This festival allows to visit places that are usually not open to the public. This year will be open for the first and only time the Roman walls of an ancient hospital of Sant Pere de Galligans square and also take a stroll along a river beach near the river Ter.
The exhibition also seeks to promote spaces of the city that are not known enough. For this reason this year floral facilities come to the Santa Eugènia and Sant Narcís.
Cultural options
Culture also takes place during this floral week. One of the most anticipated performances is the premiere of the new show of Comediants, which will take place on Sunday night on the steps of the church of Sant Feliu. The group has teamed up with Marc Grañén landscaper to create ‘Lymbus’, a show that combines art and nature in urban areas.
On Wednesday, the festival will last until midnight to enjoy a concert of bells in the Jewish Quarter. Another cultural proposal is the installation of a grand piano in the courtyard of the Museu d’Art, which can play any visitor want.
