The Film Symphony Orchestra will offer a second concert Sunday after selling out last | It will include classical melodies and Oscar nominated films this year
Barcelona Auditorium Sunday refills of the best soundtracks of films, with the return to the Catalan capital of popular Film Symphony Orchestra (FSO). The success of his first visit in October, where they sold all the tickets on sale, has led to the formation to include in their 2015 tour a second stop in the Catalan capital. So far, only Valencia had taken over a concert tour of the state.
The founder of the Film Symphony Orchestra, Constantino Martinez-Orts, will run the show, with more than 80 musicians. Born in 2012, it is the only professional orchestra dedicated exclusively to play the best music of the big screen and now has more than 60,000 spectators. After celebrating the anniversary of Back to the Future with a projection-concert, they have returned to the road in a tour that offers some of the most popular titles in the history of cinema in traditional symphonic concert format.
The concert on Sunday, at 19:30, will combine melodies of iconic Hollywood with a special program dedicated to the Oscar awards this year, including the most prominent of the upcoming ceremony BSO, as Imitation Game (Alexander Desplat) and La Theory of Everything (Johann Johannsson), which will be performed live for the first time in Spain. Also sound scoop works composed for The Avengers Alan Silvestri; a spectacular suite of Independence Day by David Arnold; or futuristic music by Don Davis for Matrix, an absolute symphonic premiere in Spain.
Among the classics that will be enjoyed and recognized are also Doctor Zhivago (Maurice Jarre), Out of Africa (Jon Barry) and ET The Extraterrestrial (John Williams), all Oscar-winning. There will also be songs that did not receive statuette but yes were nominated and have stuck in the collective memory, as Star Trek (Jerry Goldsmith), Jurassic Park (John Williams), Citizen Kane (Bernard Herman) and The Big Country (Jerome Moross ).
