The Spanish marine industry hopes that the LIV International Boat Show of Barcelona confirmed the “turnaround” experienced by the sector in 2014, after several years of crisis, with good attendance data.
This edition, to be held from Wednesday 14th to Sunday October 18th at Pier of Spain and the whip of the Port Vell, will feature 260 exhibitors -a 4% more than in 2014, 130 new products and a total of 670 boats with an area of 54,000 square meters more-2000, explained on Monday at a press conference the president of the show, Luis Conde.
Conde expects the number of attendees is “around 55,000” and exceeding 54,000 last year, and is optimistic by as lounges have worked Genova (Italy) and Cannes (France), held in dates very close to Barcelona, and has highlighted that 16% of the exhibitors are foreign.
The President has welcomed the experience of the previous edition of the fair is delayed a few weeks to avoid overlapping with Genova, which this year has been postponed a few weeks, and says he will not have an impact on Barcelona.

The secretary general of the National Association of Marine (ANEN), Carlos Sanlorenzo, stressed that the sector “finally recorded positive data” and that between January and September 4,150 pleasure boats were enrolled, 10.5% more than the same period last year, which had an increase of 12.8%.
Sanlorenzo explained that the sector has undergone a period of stagnation, but registrations are still 65% below those of 2006. For him, the recovery takes hold in the rent increases by 37.4% and it increased by 56 % in 2014 due to a change in consumer habits “it is changing the concept of ownership by sharing”. For lengths, boats are the fastest growing between 12 and 16 meters passing of 85-104 registrations (22%), although the most numerous are still the less than eight meters which increased by 10% to a total 3,725.
By provinces, the Balearic Islands lead the standings with 677 vessels (16.32% increase), followed by Barcelona 465 (10.98% more), and Madrid that gets third place (20.8%) at the expense of Cadiz with 302.
More than a hundred new features
Of the total of 130 innovations, new models are 80 boats and 50 engines electronic accessories and art. In addition, the show will feature a conference in which participate the secretary general of the International Maritime Industries Association (ICOMIA its acronym in English), Udo Kleinitz; export director of the Association of Marine US, Julie Balzano, and general secretary of the Association of Nautical Colombia (Asonautica).
