A Sant Jordi´s sculpture by Salvador Dalí shines in the cathedral of Barcelona
Salvador Dalí Sculpture
The archbishopric of Barcelona installed in the cathedral of Barcelona a new image of Sant Jordi, designed by Salvador Dalí, donated by the Estate of Noble Knights of the Principality of Catalonia, which already can venerate in one of the chapels of the cloister of the Gothic temple .
Coinciding with the last feast of Sant Jordi, the cathedral celebrated the blessing ceremony and placement of the sculpture “Saint George and the Dragon”, designed by the artist of L´Empordá, already visitable.
From the first waxwork, created in 1976 and together with other 43 sculptures, also molded in wax with your hands, Dalí made the bronze casting to proper size, as is the case which is installed in the cathedral from Barcelona.
After the blessing of the sculpture by the dean-president of the Cathedral Chapter, Joan Guiteras, they intervened Joan-Xavier Bofill Pellicer, Grand Master of the Estate of Noble Knights of the Principality of Catalonia, which was the one who made donation of the sculpture and Nicolas Descharnes, son who was secretary, collaborator and personal friend of “empurdanés” currently genius and great specialist and supporter of Dali’s works.
